Aspen RMS 14.5

Aspen RMS 14.5 refers to a version of Aspen RMS, a subsurface modeling software developed by Aspen Technology. It's a collaborative platform used by geophysicists, geologists, and reservoir engineers to build and manage 3D reservoir models. This software is designed to integrate data from various sources, support interpretation, and facilitate the creation of models for complex reservoir scenarios.
New Features in Aspen RMS 14.5:
Presentation, Flexibility, and Usability
This section describes the new features related to Presentation, Flexibility, and Usability.
Rebranding
The old company name has been removed or replaced in various places throughout the application and documentation, including data formats. No changes are required for existing projects.
3D Views and Intersection Views
Options to display the Realization number and Z scale annotations by default have been added to View tab in the User Preferences dialog. In addition, a default value for Z scale can be given.
Edit Attributes/Folders
A new option to delete attributes in the Edit Attributes/Folders dialog is provided by clicking the – button next to the Name field.
Attribute Manager
You can use the new Attribute Manager dialog to get an overview of attributes across different data objects within the entire project. Note: For more information about the Attribute Manager, see the “Managing Data/Attribute Manager Panel” section of the Aspen RMS Help.
Parameter Selection
The user interface in the Combine Multigrid Parameters job has been updated to provide a better user experience.
Big Loop Variables
It is possible now to overwrite existing job settings with mapped values in Big Loop Variables.
To improve the experience with Big Loop Variables, particularly when uncertainty values are sourced from external orchestrator, an option to summarize variables not mapped is now provided.
Sections in the Data Tree
A new symbol has been added next to Data tree name when it collapses.
Compatibility Notice for Older RMS Projects
The projects saved in RMS 12.1, or older, cannot be loaded directly.
Wells and Logs
This section describes the new features in Wells and Logs.
Well Administration
Information about the selected object is now displayed beneath the Data View of the Well Administration dialog. The Information pane can be expanded or collapsed by moving the handle vertically, offering a more flexible and user-friendly interface.
Logs from Horizon Distance
Through the Log Operations job, you can create Vertical distance, Minimum distance, and TVD logs between the selected well trajectories and a single or multiple horizons. This functionality is enabled by the Logs from horizon distance operation type, an enhanced version of the Log from vertical distance to horizons operation type.
Logs Exported from Blocked Wells
The Export Blocked Wells i-task has been converted into a job, allowing the integration into automated workflows.
Also, the exported file with the RMS Wells format is updated with the following changes:
Version number has been updated from 1 to 2.
The code names of the exported discrete parameter logs are now included in the file header.
The log headers of XYZ-Cell Center from Geometry are now listed in the file header.
Import Well Logs Job
Interpolate Undefined Values
A new Interpolate undefined values checkbox has been added to the Import Well Logs job, allowing you to perform post-processing on the imported well log data.
Destination Log Run
The Import Well Logs job has been improved to generate accurate results when configuring Destination log run settings with various Logs run options and Log options. As a result, rerunning the job may result in changes to the log data, particularly when using the Merge log run option and/or the Add and Resample log option. Therefore, it is recommended to review the workflow carefully when rerunning an existing job.
Sample All Logs as Point Log
A new option, sample all logs as point logs, has been added in the Import Well Logs job. This allows you to import discrete logs in the Interval table format and to import interval logs to the existing logs without interpolating values.
Log Operation Job
The performance has been greatly improved when displaying logs generated by the Log Conversion operation type within the Log Operation job.
Aspen RMS Help
You can now find a section in the Aspen RMS Help describing how to create a log with undefined value by using the IPL.
