CO2SOL and H2SSOL density calculation improvements

An alternative method for aqueous density calculations in CO2SOL and H2SSOL models has been made available.

Referred to as 'compressibility model', this simple approach uses a tabular representation to define the water properties as a function of pressure when saturated with CO2 or H2S. The undersaturated properties are then constructed by using a constant compressibility model. The compressibility option is activated by setting item 165 of OPTIONS3 to 3.

The compressibility model is also available in Intersect, and therefore can be useful when attempting to match results between the two simulators.

Additional UDA support

To provide flexible control to guide rates for wells in advanced field management operations, user-defined arguments (UDAs) are now available in the WGRUPCON keyword.

New and improved functionality

Support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9

Support has been added for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL9) distribution. Please refer to the

Eclipse installation guide for additional information.

Eclipse 100 and Eclipse 300

• When the GASCONC family of keywords is used, options have been added to either limit the supplied value to the calculated saturated value, or to treat the existing warning about the saturated value being exceeded as an error.

• OFM connection reporting has been corrected to provide the XY location of the connection rather than the wellhead.

• Parallel reporting of cells which have fallen below the specified bubble/dew point has been clarified.

• Reporting has been improved for coal bed methane models to clarify whether a region contains only free gas, only adsorbed gas, or both.

Eclipse 300

• An option has been added to use an exponential formulation rather than a one-term Taylor series for thermal oil phase density. This is consistent with the formulation used in Intersect.

• A problem with the combination of GASWAT/isothermal CO2STORE and ENDSCALE has been fixed.

• An issue that could cause parallel decks to become unresponsive when reporting VFP table extrapolations has been fixed.

• Checking and messaging have been improved for the DATES keyword and multiple keywords associated with multisegment wells.

• Reported initial rock volumes for coal bed methane models have been corrected.
