With this Petrel E&P Software 2023.1 release, SLB continues its commitment to improve and innovate the way you work. Petrel allows multi-domain experts to co-create a shared earth model that can be continuously updated as new information is acquired. These release notes contain short descriptors for the most significant enhancements, fixed issues, and known limitations, as well as system requirements and recommendations.

New features and enhancements in Petrel 2023.3

The following content contains descriptions of new features and behavioral changes in this release, organized by domain.

Geophysics

• Fault interpretation: When you reassign fault sticks from one fault to another, the associated fault contact points are also reassigned.

• Interpretation window: Fixed a crash in the Interpretation window that occurred when overlaying seismic vintages.

• Wavelet toolbox: Fixed an issue where wavelet extraction using the Statistical method produced a notch in the wavelet power spectrum.

• 3D window: Fixed an issue which caused the incorrect display of annotations for ZGY files displayed in the 3D window.

• Triangle meshes: Fixed a crash related to triangle meshes.

• Multi-Z interpretation: Fixed a crash in multi-Z interpretation that could occur after the Undo or Redo operations.

Geological Interpretation

• Real-time connector: Real-time connector has been updated to the latest version (14.2) to improve overall stability and to fix bugs.

Workflow editor

• Advanced get well top attribute command: A new workflow command enables you to get the value from a specific well top attribute in a scalable way using Well, Stratigraphy, and Attribute as inputs.

Wells

• Convert a well plan into a survey: You can now convert a well plan into a well survey of the same type. Right-click the well plan, then click Create a survey.

• Flatten well section on zero or well top: You can now quickly switch between a stratigraphic view (flatten on well top) and a structural view (flatten on zero depth) of a well section by right clicking a well top that is displayed in the Well section window in the Input pane. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcuts Ctrl + Shift + X to flatten on the active well top and Ctrl + Shift + C to flatten on zero depth. The zero depth reference is taken from the Well position synchronization section on the Definition tab in the Settings dialog box of the Well section window.
