The Computerized Planning and Analysis Survey System (COMPASS) is a comprehensive software tool designed for use in directional well design by either oil companies or directional contractors. COMPASS is a tool that enables you to quickly and accurately plan wells and identify potential problems at the earliest possible stage.
All of the features for complex well trajectory design, monitoring and analysis are included. The list of features include survey and planning methods, torque-drag optimization, anti-collision plotting with traveling cylinder and ellipse of uncertainty.

Import polyline data from lines in KML files (Google Earth). Google Earth can be used to import shape files or hand drawn on boundaries, these objects are exported as KML files.
Anti-collision option for resetting back to Major risk by using Source/Plug Depth. In rules based anti-collision an offset well may be assigned a minor risk well, and the procedure is to set a cement plug and reduce the pressure in the offset well. But below the cement plug the well may remain at reservoir pressure, therefore the major risk rule will apply deeper than the plug depth.
Anti-collision offset wells global scan, is the button to select nearby offset wells and set anti-collision options to standard default settings.
Finished Plans - a plan may be designated finished once this Wellbore is surveyed, then this scan is no longer included in global scans.
Anti-collision options - the global scan setting will be lost if the user changes options in the anti-collision settings dialog. It is permitted to set a smaller interpolation interval or larger scan radius.

Interpolated Azimuth station type - a station type may be assigned to a depth where the magnetic azimuth readings have interference. The ISCWSA error model will calculate the additional error for the poor quality azimuth.
Relief well planning in Plan Optimizer - this is a number of optimization options to help plan the best surface location for a relief well.

Associated designs in Target Editor - A tab is added to the target editor to show the site, well, wellbore and designs that this target is assigned to.
